There are so many people claiming, they are no longer under the law, who will be destroyed for living a lawless life when Messiah returns.
Matthew 7:21-23 Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’
Matthew 13:40-42 Therefore as the tares are gathered and burned in the fire, so it will be at the end of this age. The Son of Man will send out His angels, and they will gather out of His kingdom all things that offend, and those who practice lawlessness, and will cast them into the furnace of fire. There will be wailing and gnashing of teeth.
The New Covenant consists of living a righteous life, as defined by God's Law, with Messiah as our example of what that should look like. Satan hates this truth, that's why very few people are doing it.
Revelation 12:17 This dragon was very angry with the woman. He went off to fight with the rest of her children. They are the ones who obey the Laws of God and are faithful to the teachings of Jesus.
The reason why church people say, they are no longer under the law, is because they have not been taught how to understand Romans 5:12-14.
Romans 5:12-14 When Adam sinned, sin entered the world. Adam’s sin brought death, so death spread to everyone, for everyone sinned. Yes, people sinned even before the law was given. But it was not counted as sin because there was not yet any law to break. Still, everyone died—from the time of Adam to the time of Moses—even those who did not disobey an explicit commandment of God, as Adam did. Now Adam is a symbol, a representation of Christ, who was yet to come.
The people died prior to the law being given at Mt. Sinai, but their death didn’t come from God, it came from sin itself. Pay close attention to Genesis 2:17 because God didn’t say, “The day you eat of it, I’ll kill you.” He said, “The day you eat of it you will die.” Death from sin is a consequence, not a punishment.
Genesis 2:17 but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.”
Punishment for sin started at Mt. Sinai, and has to do with God's imposed punishment for sin, which is being put to death for sin, for example, the Sabbath. The seventh day Sabbath was created as a holy and blessed day, as part of creation itself. Being put to death for profaning the Sabbath didn’t start at Genesis, it started at Mt. Sinai. Being put to death, for profaning the Sabbath, was something new.
Exodus 31:14-16 You must keep the Sabbath day, for it is a holy day for you. Anyone who desecrates it must be put to death; anyone who works on that day will be cut off from the community. You have six days each week for your ordinary work, but the seventh day must be a Sabbath day of complete rest, a holy day dedicated to the Lord. Anyone who works on the Sabbath must be put to death. The people of Israel must keep the Sabbath day by observing it from generation to generation as a perpetual covenant.
Being put to death, for not keeping the Sabbath holy, started at Mt. Sinai, and ended when Messiah came. Being put to death ended, not the holiness of the Sabbath. The death sentence ended because of grace. Grace is not the absence of the Sabbath, it's the absence of being put to death.
Romans 6:15 What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? Certainly not!
Romans 6:1-2 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? Certainly not! How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it?
So, what is the issue today, since Messiah came? Sin is still the issue. Grace does not do away with sin, nor does it mean we can continue to sin, it means we can sin, and not be put to death. In other words, no one is being stoned today for profaning the Sabbath, committing adultery, stealing and so on, but this does not mean there will not be a day of judgement for those who continue to do those things.
Acts 17:30-31 God overlooked people’s ignorance about these things in earlier times, but now he commands everyone everywhere to repent of their sins and turn to him. For he has set a day for judging the world in righteousness by the man he has appointed, and he proved to everyone who this is by raising him from the dead.
Sin didn't start at Mt. Sinai, it started in Genesis with Adam, punishment for sin started at Mt. Sinai, and ended with Messiah, because of grace.
Romans 8:1-2 There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death.
Today, sin is still sin, and sin still destroys God's work of saving us. Just because we are no longer stoned to death for our sin, sin itself will still bring spiritual death, judgement, and final destruction when Messiah returns to remove sin, and those who practice lawlessness, from the world.
2 Thessalonians 1:7-9 God will provide rest for you who are being persecuted and also for us when the Lord Jesus appears from heaven. He will come with his mighty angels, in flaming fire, bringing judgment on those who refuse to acknowledge God and on those who refuse to obey the Gospel of our Lord Jesus. They will be punished with eternal destruction from the Lord and from his glorious power.
Today, the whole world is under God's grace, but grace is not a license to sin. Grace is supposed to teach us, and motivate us to live a righteous, and holy life until Messiah returns.
Titus 2:11-14 For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age, looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works.
2 Peter 3:10-13 But the day of the Lord will come as unexpectedly as a thief. Then the heavens will pass away with a terrible noise, and the very elements themselves will disappear in fire, and the earth and everything on it will be found to deserve judgment. Since everything around us is going to be destroyed like this, what holy and godly lives you should live, looking forward to the day of God and hurrying it along. On that day, he will set the heavens on fire, and the elements will melt away in the flames. But we are looking forward to the new heavens and new earth he has promised, a world filled with God’s righteousness.
The Torah and the Prophets is the foundation that defines righteousness, and holiness, with Messiah as our example of what that should look like. The early church called the life and teachings of Messiah, the WAY. If we follow the WAY, like they did, our beliefs, and how we worship, will be in accordance with the Torah and the Prophets.
Acts 24:14 I admit that I worship the God of our ancestors as a follower of the Way, which they call a cult. I believe everything that is in accordance with the Torah and that is written in the Prophets.
Some people miss the fact that the law at Mt.Sinai is different from the Torah and the Prophets. The Mt.Sinai law is just a glimpse of the Torah and the Prophets to show the people their need for a Savior. Notice the difference between the law, which started at Mt. Sinai, and the Torah and the Prophets.
Romans 3:21-23 But now the righteousness of God apart from the law is revealed, being witnessed by the Torah and the Prophets, even the righteousness of God, through faith in Jesus Christ, to all and on all who believe. For there is no difference; for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.
Loving God, and loving others, as God defines love, is the Torah and the Prophets. Loving God, and loving others, is an eternal principle of God's character, His righteousness and His truth, so they will never change, nor will they ever be done away with.
Matthew 22:36-40 Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Torah?” Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ On these two commandments hang all the Torah and the Prophets.”
Psalm 119:142 Your righteousness is eternal righteousness, and your Torah is truth.
If you follow the life and teachings of Messiah, your beliefs, and form of worship, will be in accordance with the Torah and the Prophets. When you do this, those who have their beliefs rooted in Babylon, will call you a cult.
Acts 24:14 I admit that I worship the God of our ancestors as a follower of the Way, which they call a cult. I believe everything that is in accordance with the Torah and that is written in the Prophets.
Amen...
