Signs, wonders and prophecies are a powerful tool in the hands of God to help His people believe, but they are not the final test of a true prophet.
Deuteronomy 18:18-22 I will raise up a prophet like you from among their fellow Israelites. I will put my words in his mouth, and he will tell the people everything I command him. I will personally deal with anyone who will not listen to the messages the prophet proclaims on my behalf. But any prophet who falsely claims to speak in my name or who speaks in the name of another god must die.’ “But you may wonder, ‘How will we know whether or not a prophecy is from the Lord?’ If the prophet speaks in the Lord’s name but his prediction does not happen or come true, you will know that the Lord did not give that message. That prophet has spoken without my authority and need not be feared.
If the prophet speaks, and what he speaks actually happens, we can know he is from the LORD.
BE CAREFUL!!!
Signs, wonders and prophecies fulfilled are not the end all test that commands our allegiance to what the prophet says or teaches.
There could be a prophet, sent by God, to test you. This prophet may speak, and what he speaks actually happens, but then he tries to get you to do things that God never said to do, God is testing you.
Deuteronomy 13:1-5 If a prophet or someone who has dreams arises among you and proclaims a sign or wonder to you, and that sign or wonder he has promised takes place, but he says, ‘Let us follow other gods,’ which you have not known, ‘and let us worship them,’ do not listen to that prophet’s words or to that dreamer. For the Lord your God is testing you to know whether you love the Lord your God with all your heart and all your soul. You must follow the Lord your God and fear Him. You must keep His commands and listen to His voice; you must worship Him and remain faithful to Him. That prophet or dreamer must be put to death, because he has urged rebellion against the Lord your God who brought you out of the land of Egypt and redeemed you from the place of slavery, to turn you from the way the Lord your God has commanded you to walk. You must purge the evil from you.
This is where many of God’s people fall into the trap. There are many false prophets today who have prophesied, and it happened, but then they tell you to do things, or not do things, that God never said. Don’t listen to them.
Then there are the out right wicked prophets who prophecies just to lead people astray. They don’t follow Messiah, nor do they worship the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, don’t have anything to do with them.
2 Thessalonians 2:9-12 The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders, and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this reason, God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie, that they all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
The lawless one is the most powerful false prophet because he has a form of godliness, he changes YAH's times and law, and has the power to punish, and kill those who reject his lies. Many people will be led astray by the man of lawlessness. His followers will be just like him. They will appear righteous, will do miracles, and even prophecy, but they will be lawless, just like their leader. Lawlessness, is Torahlessness.
Matthew 7:21-23 Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’
Is your prophet leading you to worship false gods, when God said not to worship false gods?
Is your prophet telling you to do things that God never commanded you to do?
Is your prophet telling you "not to do things" that God never said "not to do"?
It’s our responsibility is to test what the prophet says, before we accept him, don’t just accept his fulfilled prophecy as the open do to receive him or her.
1 Thessalonians 5:20-21 Do not despise prophecies, but test everything that is said to be sure it is true, and if it is, then accept it.
1 John 4:1 Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world.
If your prophet tells you "to do something" that God said "not to do" that sin can destroy your relationship with God. If you're prophet tells you "not to do something" that God never said "not to do" that sin can also destroy your relationship with God. Whether sin is real, or perceived, it has the same power to destroy relationships.
For example, your spouse believes you're creating on them. Whether it's true or not, that belief can't destroy that relationship.
How about this one?
Your spouse was told that drinking alcohol is a sin, when it's not. If the spouse sees you having a beer while you're cutting the grass on a hot day, she believes you're sinning. That belief can cause a problem in the relationship.
How about this one?
You've been taught that eating meat is a sin, so when your spouse orders a cheese burger, you believe he's sinning. That belief can cause a problem in the relationship.
How about this one?
Your spouse was taught that Sunday is the Lord's day. If you don't go to church on Sunday, your spouse believes you're sinning. That belief can cause a problem in the relationship.
Sin is sin if you believe it's sin, that's why it's so important to use the Torah and the Prophets to define acceptable worship, and the righteous lifestyle, and use the life and teachings of God's true Prophet to define what that looks like under the New Covenant.
Deuteronomy 18:18-19 I will raise up from among them a prophet, an Israeli like you. I will tell him what to say, and he shall be my spokesman to the people. He will speak in my name, and I will punish anyone who refuses to obey him.
John 1:45 Philip finds Nathanael and tells him, “We’ve found the One that Moses in the Torah, and also the prophets, wrote about—Yeshua of Natzeret, the son of Joseph!”
Acts 3:22-23 Moses truly said to the fathers, ‘The Lord your God will raise up for you a Prophet like me from your brethren. Him you shall hear in all things, whatever He says to you. And it shall be that every soul who will not hear that Prophet shall be utterly destroyed from among the people.’
Amen…
