Question - Which is the Sabbath day?
Answer - Saturday is the Sabbath day.
Question - Why do we observe Sunday instead of Saturday? Answer - We observe Sunday instead of Saturday because the Catholic Church, in the Council of Laodicea (A.D. 364), transferred the solemnity from Saturday to Sunday.” The Convert’s Catechism of Catholic Doctrine, p. 50, 3rd ed.
Obedience to living a holy life is not the opposite of being saved, it's the fruit of being saved.
Being saved means you were once spiritually dead in your sin, with no desire for the holy ways of God, but now, through grace, God has forgiven all your sins, and made you spiritually alive.
Ephesians 2:1-5 Once you were spiritually dead because of your disobedience and your many sins. You used to live in sin, just like the rest of the world, obeying the devil—the commander of the powers in the unseen world. He is the spirit at work in the hearts of those who refuse to obey God. All of us used to live that way, following the passionate desires and inclinations of our sinful nature. By our very nature we were subject to God’s anger, just like everyone else. But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so much, that even though we were spiritually dead because of our sins, he made you spiritually alive when he raised Christ from the dead. It is only by God’s grace that you have been saved!
This new birth of God's Spirit is what moves you to live as God’s child. A child of God will desire the holy ways of God, and do them, this includes honoring the blessed and holy Sabbath Day. As a child of God, your new nature will practice righteousness, that's how you know you’re a child of God. If you don't practice righteousness, you are still a child of the devil.
1 John 3:10 In this the children of God and the children of the devil are manifest: Whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor is he who does not love other believers.
Just because you say you know God, means nothing, if you’re denying Him with your pagan lifestyle, even if it’s a religious lifestyle.
Titus 1:16 They profess to know God, but in works they deny Him, being abominable, disobedient, and disqualified for every good work.
Being saved i.e. is to be born of Christ. When a person is born of Christ there will be fruit, and that fruit is practicing righteousness.
1 John 2:29 If you know that He is righteous, you know that everyone who practices righteousness is born of Him.
Practicing righteousness, as God defines righteousness, is the fruit of holiness. Allowing the holy things and holy ways of God to manifest in our lives is how we become holy. It’s how you and others know you are righteous, even in honoring the Sabbath.
Exodus 31:13 Tell the people of Israel: ‘Be careful to keep my Sabbath day, for the Sabbath is a sign of the covenant between me and you from generation to generation. It is given so you may know that I am the Lord, who makes you holy.
1 Peter 1:14-15 So, you must live as God’s obedient children. Don’t slip back into your old ways of living to satisfy your own desires. You didn’t know any better then. But now you must be holy in everything you do, just as God who chose you is holy.
1 John 3:7 Little children, let no one deceive you. He who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous.
Keeping the sabbath holy is one of many ways to be holy, without holiness, we will not see the Lord.
Hebrews 12:14 Work at living in peace with everyone, and work at living a holy life, for those who are not holy will not see the Lord.
Being saved sets you free from sins control over your life so that you are now free to practice holiness. The byproduct of holiness is eternal life.
Romans 6:22 But now you are free from the power of sin and have become slaves of God. Now you do those things that lead to holiness and result in eternal life.
Do you have the Spirit because you are saved? Great! Now, submit to it…
Galatians 6:7-8 Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life.
Don’t be deceived…no one who is born of God would post a meme like the one attached to this post, unless they are still a baby in Christ.
